Mitchell's Live Space

Well in an attempt to be a better blogger I figured I would use my Live Spaces blog to post more personal stuff since I use my blog at Nu2Rails for my RoR blog. To start this ever so interesting process I figured I would write a little post about our new puppy.

Bella (Spanish for beautiful) joined our family March 1 2008 and we have all become pretty attached. She is a full bread Australian Shepherd and is just cute as a button. We've done a lot in preparation for the new addition and I personally am pretty stoked about getting her. For starters Aussies are incredibly intelligent dogs and she absolutely loves the kids. She is also our first puppy as a family and that's just really cool. I grew up with a dog and I absolutely loved her. My wife is a cat person but I can't deny my kids the kind of love and companionship that a dog can bring to a family. Don't get me wrong cat's aren't the root of all evil but they just have different personalities. Also it's a good opportunity to teach my oldest son a little about responsibility and the rewards of raising a dog to love and respect you.

I'm sure this won't be my last post about Bella or my kids and how they are dealing with the challenges that I'm sure will arise. Of course remember if you are interested in Ruby on Rails feel free to stop by Nu2Rails or Acts-As-Bloggr and join in with the conversations.

Well I know I haven't been posting much to this blog so I thought I would toss out a quick post on what's been going on.

I'll start with how much I'm loving my new laptop. I am very satisfied with this little Toshiba Satellite. I got what is probably the cheapest model which doesn't have anything as far as extra's but it does have 2 gig of ram and a good sized hard drive. I'm actually glad I got something simple since I have a tendency to buy things that are fully loaded and end up paying out the keester for a bunch of crap I never use. This laptop is however great for coding. It runs smooth and fast and came equipped with Windows Vista which has been a pleasant surprise. As I mentioned before I actually intended to strip it of it's Windows install and throw a copy of Ubuntu on it. Now that I've played around a little though I may just stick with Windows for a while and see what happens. I especially love some of the new Windows Live things that they offer now, especially the Family Protection bit which is great because My 7 year old has been bugging me for his very own computer and now I can hook him up to the net with a little more piece of mind.

Next I am still working on my blogging software to be used at my web site Nu2Rails. It's not going quickly but that's fine with me since I want to make sure I've done it right. I actually have most of it working now is mainly just clean up and making sure it's ready to publish. From there I'll probably go on to work more on optimization.

In closing I'm getting a doggy. For some reason I'm completely stoked. It's an Australian Shepard puppy, full blooded. I haven't gone to pick out which pup I want yet but I'm pretty excited about it. My wife's partner at work has two full blooded Ausies and the female recently had a litter. Last time I was over there I couldn't stop playing with her so She told me she would sell me one cheap <- My favorite price.

So I'll keep anyone interested posted and try to be a little more active on my postings.

Well I have done a lot. Still trying to get this laptop running the way I want. So far I'm pretty happy with it, it may not have a lot of uber features but it is all set up for everything I need it to do. I've also been working on my Windows Dedicated server for my hosting business I'm working on. Got Helm all set up. Now I just gotta do some tweaking. I uploaded some new images, well web badges that I made and though others may find useful. I won't go into a whole bunch of details cause, well there really is no reason. So check them out if you would like and if not then that's ok too. So that's what I got so far.

Well I just got a new laptop that had Windows Vista pre installed. My original plan was to wipe the drive and install Linux. Well since I had never played with Vista before I decided to keep it around. I never new what Microsoft was up to since the old Hotmail and MSN days and I stumbled upon all this Windows Live stuff. Now as hard as this is for me to admit I'm really impressed. I have heard that things were looking good but I never imagined. So for now I've decided that I would give this Live Space a try and see how it works out. I actually usually hate this stuff but and to be honest I think that myspace is the scourge of the Internet. So I'm gonna be around and I'll see how this works out for me.
